I guess we weren’t taught so much about the individuality of the human being.
Growing up in societies with rules for everything must have made us think that there is always only one way to do things, and anything that deviates from that one way is most definitely wrong.
This is evident in our educational system, religious makeup, and social life.
Everyone’s religion is the “one true religion.” Dressing in a way that isn’t accepted by the community automatically grants you entry to the dark side. Attempting to solve a question using a method different from what was taught in class comes with its not-so-pretty consequences.
But humans weren’t made to be one and the same.
We exhibit different traits based on a series of varying circumstances. Some of these are programmed into our genes, while we pick up others from the stuff around us.
Because there are countless ways these circumstances can line up, we end up having people who look similar on the outside but differ entirely in the most minute things.
Not everyone will act like you.
Not everyone will see the world the way you do because no one else has had the same exact experiences as you. We are only a reflection of our view of the world.
We are bound to be at the mercy of perspective.
However, the same way we exhibit varying degrees of the human personality is how we have the power to flip the switch.
When you refuse to see people for who they are, you don’t automatically get them to become who you want. You may get them to change, but they may not fit into the mold you designed.
When you take advantage of someone’s personality, you’re doing yourself and the world a disservice. You did not become you by accident. The same goes for the next person.
The more we recognize our differences, the more united we will be.
When an open book closes, the story ends.
